Fine Arts Week and Special Events

The Prince Avenue Christian School Fine Arts Department will sponsor Fine Arts Week February 13 - 17.  The week will include many activities for the school as well as special events for Fine Arts students.

Fine Arts Week will be celebrated school-wide with themed dress-up days.

  • Monday:  Fairytales - Relive your childhood by bringing your favorite fairytale characters to life.  Dress up as Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack, or any other storybook characters you remember from your younger day.
  • Tuesday:  Patriots - Express your American pride by dressing up patriotically.  Whether you parade yourself in red, white, and blue, or go all out in camo, remember to be thankful for those who give us freedom.
  • Wednesday:  Color Clash - Bust out the color wheels and come to school in your brightest and tackiest outfit.  Create an entire outfit of mismatching colors that are sure to make anyone stand out.
  • Thursday:  Musical Theatre - Cast yourself in your dream roll from your favorite musical.  Show up in a Western get-up like Frank from Annie Get Your Gun or transform into Glinda's bubbly ball gown from Wizard of Oz.  Make sure you are ready for a day full of laughs and random song breaks.
  • Friday:  Spirit Day - Celebrate PACS school spirit, as always,  by wearing spirit day clothing on Friday.

The week's events will culminate with a Winter Concert presented Thursday, February 16th at 7 pm in the PABC Worship Center.  Students from Performing Arts, Chorus, Band, and Praise Team will perform, and special guest, John David, Director of Jazz and Percussion at Berry College, will also join the performances for the evening.

In addition to Fine Arts Week, the Fine Arts Department is also very active in other events.  High School Performing Arts students will present a concert at Disney World on Saturday, February 18th in the Disney Marketplace.  Students will also participate in a Broadway workshop and a "talk back" with the cast and crew of Beauty and the Beast.

The PACS Band, under the direction of Miles Adams, has students participating in both the Middle and High School District Bands.  Middle School students selected are Jake Hathaway – alto saxophone, Caleb Wilson – tenor saxophone, Garrison Hammond – French horn, and Sam Carmean – trombone.  Jake and Sam scored high enough to qualify for the state audition for the 2017 Georgia All-State Band.  High School students selected are Emily Weaver – clarinet, Nate Aldin – clarinet, Jared Gilstrap – trumpet, and Tanner Iley – euphonium.  Nate scored high enough to qualify for the state audition for the 2017 Georgia All-State Band.

Lower School Music teacher, Larry Boling, will have five students participate in the Georgia Music Educators State Honors Chorus at the Classic Center in Athens. Those students are Samantha Cartey. Payton Cromer, Naomi Gowder, Cari Hardwick, and Aidan Washington.

Nine drama students have recently attended the State Thespian Conference in Columbus, Georgia with High School Drama teacher Joe Strickland.  Those students are juniors Ben Hardwick, Rebecca Hathaway, and Sara Thompson and seniors Nathan Anderson, Cailyn Bloodworth, Macy Frazier, Alex Harding, Isabelle Renn, and Robert West.

The vision of Fine Arts at Prince Avenue Christian School is to release the creativity within each student and to use that creativity to glorify God. These special events are a reflection of that vision. Congratulations to all Fine Arts students on their accomplishments as they celebrate Fine Arts Week and perform in their various venues.
